Many of you know I work a couple days a week as an oncology nurse. I LOVE my job and after my son was born found a way to be home with him most days and work two 10 hour shifts. We found the perfect "nanny." She is now part of our family and has been watching Daniel for the last 3 years almost. We had her meet Naomi pretty close to when we came home from China and she has done great with her! Both of my kids love "Pelen!" My days at work are great ... but long and I miss my kids (and you too Glenn) by the end of my day at work. By the time I get in my car to drive home, I am usually a bit weary but I switch gears for the evening ahead... like making dinner doing baths and bedtime with the kids.
I do not want this to sound like I am complaining... I just know that those of you who work (whether you work outside the home or are a Mommy taking care of kids...or you are doing BOTH or quite possibly doing BOTH on your own... know how wonderful it is when someone swoops in and does something wonderful and unexpected! So on to the wonderful part!
This Tuesday when I arrived home, I had barely made it into my bedroom to kick off my shoes and I hear Glenn yell "You have to come look at the side of the house...NOW!" I am wondering what sort of terrible thing could have happened over there... on that side of the house... where the weeds are like 2 feet high! I walked out and the ENTIRE side of our house was weeded! The dirt that I saw there... well lets just say it has not seen sunlight in about 3 years! She did it all with a shovel and a rake! Daniel told me "Pelen is going to make me a play yard!"
Then, I go back inside, open the fridge to see what we should start for dinner and I see a plate of deviled eggs! :) My favorite!!! She made these too! Apparently after spending 2 hours at the park also!
Walking down my hall ( with a mouth full of deviled egg!) to kick off my shoes and change my clothes... I glance on my bed and see the piles of neatly folded laundry... yes... Helen has left this for us also!!!! I stopped in my tracks and said a prayer of thanksgiving for Helen! I do not know how we found her! I do not know how to let her know how much she means to us. It is not even about all of this bonus stuff...
Another thing we love about Helen? She spends quality time with Daniel and Naomi! She reads to them and plays with them! She teaches them and takes them to the park and library. She cooks healthy foods for them and gets them to eat and love tons of vegetables! I could go on and on...
Oh, and the #1 BEST part... Helen LOVES my kids and they LOVE her!
We LOVE you and we are GRATEFUL for you "PELEN!"
