Fun Night!

Naomi's first Knock and "trick or treat!" She quickly caught on!

Right up there with candy... Parachute guy!

It did not rain on my cardboard creation! We had a great time at the "Trunk or Treat" Harvest Festival at church! You can't tell from the picture... but Daniel's headlights actually light up! And his candy got dropped right in his exhaust pipe! I secured a bag under-neath to catch all the goods! :) Minnie mouse loved dressing up and a big thank you to Shanna for the dress and to Tanya for the ears and Monica for the shoes! :) I did not have to do a thing for her costume!

A sweet start...

Nothing like starting Halloween off with a little sweetness! :) I made the kids pumpkin pancakes... and yes, that is a chocolate face! (just a little sugar-free syrup!) Hoping the rain goes AWAY since Daniel's costume is cardboard and took me hours to build!

Rain, rain go away!

Truly Amazing...

A friend of mine posted this on her Facebook site... it is beautiful and I just had to share it... and you just HAVE to listen! :) Be sure to pause my playlist music on the side bar first!

The lyrics, the location... they say it all! And you are right Adriana, the bagpipes are awesome too!

My Pumpkin Pies!

I am feeling especially thankful this time of year. It was almost one year ago we were heading to China to bring Naomi home! What a year it has been. I can't imagine our family without her! I feel like the luckiest Mama (I know all you mommies feel this way... and you know that exact feeling!). My children are so precious! We had so much fun taking these silly pictures today! Thank you Monica for letting us wear the pumpkin hats! So cute!

When "thank you" isn't enough...

Many of you know I work a couple days a week as an oncology nurse. I LOVE my job and after my son was born found a way to be home with him most days and work two 10 hour shifts. We found the perfect "nanny." She is now part of our family and has been watching Daniel for the last 3 years almost. We had her meet Naomi pretty close to when we came home from China and she has done great with her! Both of my kids love "Pelen!" My days at work are great ... but long and I miss my kids (and you too Glenn) by the end of my day at work. By the time I get in my car to drive home, I am usually a bit weary but I switch gears for the evening ahead... like making dinner doing baths and bedtime with the kids.

I do not want this to sound like I am complaining... I just know that those of you who work (whether you work outside the home or are a Mommy taking care of kids...or you are doing BOTH or quite possibly doing BOTH on your own... know how wonderful it is when someone swoops in and does something wonderful and unexpected! So on to the wonderful part!

This Tuesday when I arrived home, I had barely made it into my bedroom to kick off my shoes and I hear Glenn yell "You have to come look at the side of the house...NOW!" I am wondering what sort of terrible thing could have happened over there... on that side of the house... where the weeds are like 2 feet high! I walked out and the ENTIRE side of our house was weeded! The dirt that I saw there... well lets just say it has not seen sunlight in about 3 years! She did it all with a shovel and a rake! Daniel told me "Pelen is going to make me a play yard!"

Then, I go back inside, open the fridge to see what we should start for dinner and I see a plate of deviled eggs! :) My favorite!!! She made these too! Apparently after spending 2 hours at the park also!

Walking down my hall ( with a mouth full of deviled egg!) to kick off my shoes and change my clothes... I glance on my bed and see the piles of neatly folded laundry... yes... Helen has left this for us also!!!! I stopped in my tracks and said a prayer of thanksgiving for Helen! I do not know how we found her! I do not know how to let her know how much she means to us. It is not even about all of this bonus stuff...

Another thing we love about Helen? She spends quality time with Daniel and Naomi! She reads to them and plays with them! She teaches them and takes them to the park and library. She cooks healthy foods for them and gets them to eat and love tons of vegetables! I could go on and on...

Oh, and the #1 BEST part... Helen LOVES my kids and they LOVE her!

We LOVE you and we are GRATEFUL for you "PELEN!"

So proud of my sister Lea!

My sister Lea ran her first 1/2 marathon today! She ran the Nike Woman's Marathon in San Francisco! We joined her along with friends and family to cheer her along and celebrate with her! We had a great dinner together last night in North Beach and had a blast today at the race! Daniel and Naomi loved taking the BART (commuter train) and taxis throughout town!

We are so proud of you Lea!!!

Naomi took full advantage of the free bananas being handed out! :)

OK... I guess these are not too subtle! We are getting really excited to dress up and are having fun creating our costumes!

Being silly after naps today...

Yes, Daniel's favorite shirt to wear is still his one of his 2 John Deere shirts. I should just invest in a few more... and notice what Naomi wanted to wear today... :) As for her hair, we are practicing Minnie Mouse ears for Halloween!
